I have had the Lola Dress Pattern (from Victory Patterns) on my must buy list for a seriously long time, so I jumped at the opportunity to sew it for Selfish Sewing Week!

I wanted to make the dress a little more rock and roll so I chose two great Nosh organic fabrics featuring cameras and stripes from my friend Amanda’s shop, Kitschy Coo! The fabrics are crazy soft and luxurious feeling and have a little extra stretch as they contain 5% elastane. I even managed to line up most of the stripes on the contrast bands!! Although clearly, there was absolutely no chance of managing the same with the cameras!! Oh and hey the organic sewing thread (including the large cones on my overlocker) are from my shop, Stitch Organics!

The sewing pattern mostly calls for use of a serger, which makes it super easy to sew up, but if you don’t have a serger/overlocker, you could easily acheive the same result by using either an overlock or zig zag stitch on your regular sewing machine!

It did take me quite a bit of time to piece together the printed out pdf pattern, but I’m pretty sure that has something to do with my compulsion to try and “save time” by creating convoluted short cuts that don’t work out!

Overall it is a really easy sew and fits well, I just need to go hunt down some more great organic knit prints and whip up a few more for my wardrobe!

I’m not sure I will be able to fit in any ‘from scratch’ sewing projects this week, but I’m hoping to set aside some time to ‘fix’ some of my recent garment makes, so they fit a little better! I might finally be able to blog about them, then!

So cute! I’ve been eyeing this pattern as well. Looks like such a good one for being comfy but also cute! My favorite way to be. Nice work on the stripes!! Wahoo!!
