A good friend Marj inspires me, she’s retired now, so she says, but after a whole working life being a school librarian, she now volunteers her time to run an Odyssey of the Mind division, which continues to inspire creativity and problem solving in kids, as well as being a mom, grandma and cancer survivor. A perkier, more enthusiastic soul you’d be lucky to find.

My great-aunt Zelma was an inspired storyteller and our family historian. She headed up the Red Cross in her county right after WWII and took on the federal government to keep families together when they emigrated from displaced persons camps. She never took “No” for an answer when it came to doing what was right. I miss her greatly.

People think she is intimidating because she is so strong and confident, but she is the most non-judgmental woman I know and dearly love!

  232. May 16, 2014 at 7:58 pm

My great grandmother inspires me. She lost her mother at a early age and raised her siblings while her Dad worked extra jobs to feed all of them. When she did marry, her husband had to travel with his job and they had to scrimp as much as possible to feed all five kiddos. Even though life was hard and there wasn’t much to be had, she was one of those gentle rays of sunlight that make the world feel better on the darkest days. She was rarely still and quilted constantly. I miss that lady.
