Kid Craft: Fireworks Painting

The Crafty Kitty | Fireworks Painting

As usual when it is Guy Fawke’s night, the whole world decides to set of fireworks for about two weeks before and after the actual night. Cue renewed interest in fireworks from my 4 year old and a request to “please please PLEASE!” make a fireworks picture. Whilst she was at school I set up an invitation to create, using black paper, 3 colors of paint (that she had chosen that morning), cotton buds, an old toothbrush, some glitter glue (plus several other glitters not pictured) and some star stickers (and star shapes, not pictured).

My 2 year old had decided, unusually, to fall asleep, so Lily sat down to get creating. You can see a little preview of the Upside Downside Apron, that I created as a tutorial for Birch Fabrics!

It was only after she had finished painting, that I broke out the glitter. I was not in the mood for glitter chaos, so we tackled each type of glitter individually… I should mention that I had about 5 types of glitter plus the glitter glues and the stickers. You can imagine the sparkly carnage if I had let the kiddies loose with that!

SO many sparkles! Lily was very pleased with her picture and informed me that the stars were having a race. which is why they are circling the picture!

Once the 2 year old had resurfaced from his nap, he also attacked the paint and glitter!
