Playdough Bakery with free printable

I have seen a few different ideas for playdough based creative play. I was making a birthday present for one of Lily’s friends and I thought I would share the printable I created!

The Crafty Kitty | Playdough Bakery

If you want to create a playdough bakery for your own children/grandchildren or as a gift, there are a few things that you will need!

  • Playdough-obviously!

This can be store bought or home made. I have to say, making play dough at home is REALLY easy. You don’t need many ingredients and it takes hardly any time at all. I recommend the posts on mini eco, which has a simple basic playdough recipe as well as naturally dyed playdough and scented playdough. Remember, this playdough is NOT meant to be eaten, so make sure you watch you kiddies carefully, if they are prone to putting things in their mouth!!

The Crafty Kitty | Vanilla, Chocolate and Strawberry PlaydoughI made vanilla, chocolate and strawberry playdough using the mini eco recipes.

Suggested tools and equipment

  • cupcake cases (paper or silicone)
  • lollipop sticks
  • cake pop sticks
  • different shaped cutters
  • rolling pin
  • blunt knife
  • bowl and spoon etc., to mix up your cakes
  • candles (real ones, or you can use chopped up plastic straws)
  • cake decorations (glitter, pom poms, shiny shapes like butterflies or stars)
  • cellophane or paper, if you are making ‘sweets’

For the birthday present, I bought a kids baking set, which included small silicone cake cases, cookie cutters, spatula, bowl, spoon etc. I then added some cake pop sticks, paper cupcake cases, candles (made from cut up plastic straws), a batch of playdough and a laminated copy of the printable I created.

The Crafty Kitty | Wrapped Homemade Playdough and Playdough Bakery Printable

The printable has both picture and text instructions on making a basic cupcake, as well as different ‘icing’ and decorating techniques and suggestions for other bakery items! It is A5, so I printed 2 pages on each side of a4 and then folded it in half, to make double sided laminated suggestion cards. I wrapped the playdough in greaseproof pater and stuck a label on each, detailing the ‘flavour’.

Download it here. This item is intended for personal use, but feel free to use as part of a gift for friends or family. I ask that you don’t sell it for profit, and that you give full credit to me and direct people to the website to download the printable.
