Storyboek Baby Burp Cloths

I found this lovely tutorial on MADE a few weeks ago and what d’ya know… 2 days later my friend had her new baby. So of course I whipped up a set!

For the little band to keep the set together I used an undyed organic cotton ribbon, that I think my husband got from Britex Fabrics in San Francisco. Apparently they don’t get many people asking for organic ribbons and recycled buttons, because they always seem to remember my hubby when he is over there for work. Plus I think it is the same lady in that department that helps him out! Yay for helpful sewing shop ladies who help hubbies that are shopping for their sewing wives! Erm… anyway, so I hand stamped the little E and the bee, which was actually a freebie stamp that Lily had off a magazine!

The three prints are from Birch Fabric’s Storyboek collection, which you might recognise from the baby quilt I made. For the burp cloths I used: cobblestone stripe (coral), field friends (coral), and woodcut floral (sky). As they are being used to clean up spit up I thought that my bamboo/organic cotton blend fleece would be perfect, as bamboo is super absorbent and naturally antibacterial! I of course used organic cotton sewing thread to sew them!

Lovely and thoughtful gift, the fabric choice is lovely. I have been to Britex. It is quite amazing.
