Maisy Mouse part 2: the nose

I am trying to add to my daughter’s dress up collection and this is part of her Maisy Mouse outfit. I made the ears last week and you can read about that here. The only thing I have left to do is make the tail!

This is what I started out with:

I decided to make this a no-sew project and instead used my glue gun. First I wrapped a piece of pink felt around the cardboard cone and glued it in place, I then scrunched up the black felt and glued it in place on the tip of the cone. next up I ran a line of glue along the pink felt strips and folded them in half. I dabbed glue dots 3 on each side of the nose and attached the top of the strips to make the whiskers. Last of all I added a dab of glue on the inside of the cone and glued the elastic in place.
It looks quite funny and my two year old needs a bit of help putting the ears and nose on but still I’m quite pleased! I have a feeling she is going to be most impressed with the tail.
I have to say it does look rather odd if you don’t know who Maisy Mouse is, but when you compare it to a picture of the character it doesn’t look too bad!

Did you ever end up making the tail? I’m working on a Halloween costume for my 2 year old daughter this year. Thanks!
